Why Monero for Dark Matter Market?
Monero (XMR) is the preferred cryptocurrency on Dark Matter Market due to its superior privacy features. Unlike Bitcoin, Monero transactions are untraceable and unlinkable by default, providing complete financial privacy.
Hides the sender's address among others
One-time addresses for each transaction
Hides transaction amounts
Step 1: Choose a Monero Wallet
Recommended Wallets
-
Monero GUI Wallet - Official full-node wallet (most secure)
Download: getmonero.org -
Feather Wallet - Lightweight, easy to use
Download: featherwallet.org -
Cake Wallet - Mobile wallet (iOS/Android)
App stores or cakewallet.com
Never use exchange wallets (Binance, Kraken, etc.) for Dark Matter transactions!
Step 2: Install and Set Up Wallet
- Download your chosen wallet from the official website only
- Verify the download hash/signature
- Install and launch the wallet
- Create a new wallet
- Write down your 25-word seed phrase on paper
- Store the seed phrase securely (never digitally!)
- Wait for blockchain sync (full node) or connect to remote node
Step 3: Acquire Monero
Anonymous Options
- LocalMonero - P2P trading platform
- Bisq - Decentralized exchange
- TradeOgre - No-KYC exchange
- Atomic Swaps - Convert BTC to XMR directly
Less Private Options
- Buy Bitcoin from KYC exchange ā Convert to Monero on non-KYC exchange
- Let coins "age" before use (wait 24-48 hours)
Step 4: Send to Dark Matter Market
- Log in to Dark Matter Market
- Go to your Account/Wallet section
- Copy your deposit address (starts with 4 or 8)
- Open your Monero wallet
- Click "Send"
- Paste the Dark Matter deposit address
- Enter the amount
- Review and confirm the transaction
- Wait for 10 confirmations (usually ~20 minutes)
Tip: Always double-check the deposit address before sending. Monero transactions are irreversible.
View-Only Wallet: Track Without Risking Funds
A Monero wallet's private spend key and view key are separate. Sharing only the view key (plus the public address) creates a view-only wallet that can see incoming and outgoing transactions and balance ā but cannot sign a transaction or move a single coin.
- Useful for keeping funds in cold storage on an offline device while still checking balance/history day-to-day from a normal computer, without ever exposing the spend key to that machine
- Also useful for letting an accountant, escrow partner, or auditor confirm a payment arrived without handing them any ability to spend
- Generate one from most Monero GUI/CLI wallets via "create view-only wallet" ā it exports the view key and address only, never the spend key
A view-only wallet is not a backup ā if the spend key / seed phrase is lost, a view-only copy cannot recover the funds. Keep the seed phrase backup from Cold Storage regardless of whether you also set up a view-only wallet.
Security Best Practices
- Never reuse addresses
- Use a dedicated computer/VM for crypto transactions
- Always use Tor when accessing your wallet
- Keep your seed phrase offline and secure
- Don't discuss transaction amounts publicly
- Run your own node for maximum privacy
- Consider using subaddresses for different purposes
